July 3, 2024: ROA thank you letter to Sen. Van Hollen for interest in developing a national health response plan that includes the U.S. Public Health Service Ready Reserve Corps.

ROA thanked Sen. Van Hollen for his interest in working together on building a sufficient consolidated public health preparedness capability of military and civilian institutions to ensure national security.


June 28, 2024: ROA letter to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs on the wrongful awarding of $10.8 million in PACT Act incentives.

ROA wrote to Secretary McDonough asking him to make public his professional assessment regarding whether or not the Under Secretaries of Health and Benefits have his trust and confidence and are worthy of ROA's.


May 29, 2024: ROA letter to House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committee leadership seeking clarity on assumptions made by the Congressional Budget Office to "score" Sections 101, 105, and 106 of H.R.8371, the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act.

ROA wrote to the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans Affairs urging clarity regarding the assumptions made by CBO in scoring the omni-bus package referred to as the "Dole Act" and its implications on other ROA priorities, including GI Bill parity for reserve component members.


May 15, 2024: ROA letter to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services urging advocacy for sustaining the U.S. Public Health Service Ready Reserve Corps.

ROA wrote to Secretary Becerra and Deputy Secretary Palm requesting a meeting to discuss the future of the U.S. PHS RRC.


May 13, 2024: ROA letter to House Veterans Affairs Committee leaders urging bi-partisan support for the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act (particularly Sections 221 and 222).

ROA wrote to Chairman Mike Bost and Ranking Member Mark Takano urging the passage of Sections 221 and 22 of the "Dole Act" no later than the conclusion of the 118th Congress.


May 13, 2024: ROA letter to House Minority Leader Jeffries thanking him for his role in defeating H.Res.1209, Declaring the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives to be vacant.

ROA wrote to Leader Jeffries thanking him for his efforts to defeat a resolution that would have further reduced the integrity of our government at a time where America faces possible war with China and the American people have crisis levels of "confidence" in Congress (8 percent) and the military (60 percent).


March 1, 2024: ROA urges the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense to hold a hearing on the reserve chiefs' FY 2025 budget requests.

ROA wrote to the Chairman and Ranking Member of HAC-D urging a hearing on the reserve chiefs' FY 2025 budget requests.


Nov. 14, 2023: ROA thank you letter to Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jack Reed for sponsoring S.Res.444.

ROA wrote to Sen. Reed thanking him for sponsoring a resolution that would have enabled the Senate to approve hundreds of held military promotions. The resolution, S.Res.444, passed the rules and administration committee and played a role in the eventual lift on the promotion hold.


Nov. 14, 2023: ROA letter to the Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee on S.Res.444, providing for the en bloc consideration of military nominations.

ROA wrote to Senate rules and administration committee leaders urging unanimous committee support for a resolution that would have enabled the Senate to approve most of the hundreds of held military promotions.


Nov. 10, 2023: ROA letter to Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough on solutions to disparities in receiving disability compensation for reserve component service members.

ROA responded swiftly to a troubling Government Accountability Office report that validated longstanding concerns regarding reserve component access to earned VA benefits. In response, ROA wrote Secretary McDonough requesting a meeting focused on solutions to better meet the needs of veterans of reserve component service.


Sept. 22, 2023: ROA letter to Senate Majority Leader Schumer on advancing the held military promotions, one by one if necessary.

ROA joined the fight for approving the hundreds of held military promotions by calling on the Senate Majority Leader to begin floor consideration one-by-one, if necessary. ROA reinforced this call to action with support for S.Res.444, which played a role in the eventual lift on the promotion hold.


Sept. 20, 2023: ROA letter to House and Senate Armed Services Committee leadership on FY 2024 National Defense Authorization Act.

ROA identified its top 10 FY 2024 NDAA priorities to House and Senate armed services committee leadership. The FY 2024 NDAA was signed into law Dec. 22, 2023, and included several accomplishments, including extending TRICARE coverage for reserve component survivors from six months to three years.


Sept. 20, 2023: ROA letter to President Joseph R. Biden Jr. on the need to modernize law and policy for hiring and retaining citizen-warriors and military spouses in the American workforce.

ROA wrote to the president for the third time in 2023 urging support for several proposals to reward America's employers for their role in supporting citizen-warriors, military spouses, the reserve components, and national security.

Sept. 1, 2023: ROA letter to Sens. Tim Kaine and John Boozman declaring support for the H.R.1277/S.596, the Military Spouse Hiring Act.

ROA thanked the sponsors of the most significant solution to military spouse unemployment pending before the 118th Congress.


Aug. 23, 2023: ROA and the Jewish War Veterans write to Rep. Mike Lawler declaring support for H.R.5114, the Giving Reservists a Valiant Eternity (GRAVE) Act.

ROA initiated a partnership with the Jewish War Veterans focused on spiritual readiness and thanked Rep. Lawler, the sponsor of legislation ensuring all reserve component members receive a headstone or grave marker at their burial site.


Aug. 1, 2023: ROA writes to House Armed Services Quality of Life Panel Chairman Rep. Don Bacon on the need to address the unique needs of Reserve and National Guard service members and their families.

ROA wrote to the Chairman of the House armed services quality of life panel urging closer collaboration and support for several initiatives to improve the health and wellness of reserve component service members and their families.


June 5, 2023: ROA letter to Reps. Joe Courtney and Trent Kelly declaring support for the Sergeant First Class Michael Clark TRICARE Reserve Parity Act.

ROA thanked the sponsors of legislation that treats TRICARE for survivors of reserve component service the same as survivors of the active component. This legislation was secured by ROA in the final FY 2024 NDAA, signed by the president into law Dec. 22, 2023.


June 3, 2023: ROA letter to Reps. Jimmy Panetta, Brad Wenstrup, Blake Moore, and Don Beyer declaring support for H.R. 3253, the Reservist Pay Equity Act.

ROA thanked the sponsors of legislation that incentivizes America's employers to provide differential pay to deployed reserve component service members.

Feb. 20, 2023: ROA FY 2024 Budget Request Letter to President Joseph R. Biden Jr.

ROA responded to the president's state of the union address with a letter regarding his FY 2024 budget request. This includes more affordable drill weekends and health care and adequate funding for reserve component equipment needs.


Jan. 16, 2023: ROA letter to President Joseph R. Biden Jr. urging immediate reinstatement of all reserve and active service members discharged for not receiving the COVID-19 vaccine with 100 percent back pay.
