Antal, US Army (Ret.) Chapter 18 will hold its next scheduled meeting at the Highland Park Cafeteria (Board Room), 1200 North Buckner Blvd, Dallas, TX, 75218; Tel: 214-324-5000. The facility website is: http://www.highlandparkcafeteria.com Please arrive and go through the serving line by 5:30 pm so we may then start the program by 6pm (the facility closes at 8pm). Wine is provided at no cost. Guests are always welcomed. Guest speaker: Colonel John Antal, US Army (Retired). John served 30 years in the US Army as a leader, senior staff officer and commander. He commanded tank and combined arms combat units at platoon, company, battalion and regimental level. He is Airborne and Ranger qualified. He has served in sensitive joint, combined Army staff assignments in the US and overseas. He also served as the Special Assistant to the United States Military Academy at West Point, the Command and General Staff College and the Army War College. Since his retirement from the US Army in 2003, he has become a successful author, speaker, magazine editor, film adviser and personality, mass-market video game developer, explainer-integrator, journalist, and leadership expert. His topic will be current world events with special emphasis on the middle east. Hours will be: Saturday 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Sunday 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM Location: Hyatt Regency DFW 2334 N. International Pkwy Dallas, TX 75261 972-453-1234 If you can attend and man the table and interact with Air National Guard members and their families for any part of the event let me know. We are pleased to have CPT Dan Ray, US Army who will come and give us a short presentation on his recent deployment to the middle east as part of the 1st Cavalry Division. Captain Ray is serving with the 300th Sustainment Brigade, 4th ESC, USAR as a plans officer. He graduated from the University of Texas Arlington in August 2012 with a B.S. in Economics; concurrently commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Benning, GA; then was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas with the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team. He spent nine months at Camp Stanley, Korea with the 3rd Battalion 8th Cavalry Regiment and recently returned from Kuwaiti Naval Base, Kuwait in May 2017 to transition to the U.S. Army Reserve. He is currently attending Southern Methodist University pursuing an MBA and will intern with PwC this summer as a Senior Consultant. Dan and his wife Carrie reside in Grand Prairie with their one-year old daughter, Lydia. In his free time Dan is an avid power lifter and avoids running as much as possible. We will also present information from the recent ROA National Leader’s meeting in Washington, D.C. held March 18-21 including legislative agenda items of concern to our membership plus state of the association presentation. We will also present updates from Texas ROA Department convention held April 7 and National Leaders meeting held March 11-13. We will also install the new slate of officers for the next program year. If you are interested in assuming a chapter leaders position please let us know.
