About UPORFA
Union Panamericana de Oficiales de Reserva de las Fuerzas Aramadas (UPORFA), founded in 1994, is dedicated to furthering; the strategic aims of the United States, the Department of Defense, and SOUTHCOM; building civil/military alliances with the democratic nation states in South America; and building strategic partnerships in the national interests of member countries founded on democratic principles and the respect for civil authority. This work is done principally through contacts with partner Reserve Officer Associations in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Peru and other nations of the region.
 
The Reserve Officers Association of the United States is the representative of the United States to UPORFA and as such, all ROA members are members of UPORFA and are able to participate in this international activity should they chose to become involved. UPORFA 2009 Reserve Forum, Armenia, Colombia

The Reserve Forum officially began on 9 October with a reception, welcoming addresses, and cultural folk dances and music provided by the local Youth Orchestra. The two day Forum was highlighted by presentations from: LTC Mauricio Moreno of the Office of Strategic Communications who spoke of the need for solid communications that the masses can understand and rely upon - an area where trained Reserve Personnel can excel). The Forum ended with a closure session and a cultural presentation.
