What Is ROA?

The Reserve Officers Association is the 60,000-member professional association for all uniformed services of the United States. Chartered by Congress and in existence since 1922, ROA advises and educates the Congress, the President, and the American people on national security, with unique expertise on issues that affect the 1.5 million men and women now serving in America’s Reserve Components.

Why Join ROA?

ROA membership means being part of a professional military association of fellow Reservists. It affords networking and mentoring opportunities within your state, locale and unit. New members can get involved in ROA at all levels and have a voice that will be heard.

Advocacy:
ROA is the premier advocate for Reserve Component equipment, training, recruitment and retention incentives, and employment rights. NSS: The annual ROA National Security Symposium attracts the top echelon of joint Reserve senior leadership and national security strategists with focus on national security and issues unique to the Reserve and Guard community.
DEF: The Defense Education Forum facilitates productive discussions on a variety of national security topics, and hosts professional development courses. The Officer The Officer Magazine has risen into the top tier of journals reporting on national security and military issues.
Law Center: The Service Members Law Center offers expert legal info on USERRA, SCRA, military voting rights and other legal issues that are important to citizen warriors. Members: ROA provides its members a number of benefits including the Career Center, education opportunities, and discounts on financing, travel, publications, services, and more.

Who is Eligible to Join?

Reserve, active, retired, and former officers, warrant officers and non-commissioned officers of the uniformed services of the United States - Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, NOAA, National Guard, and Air National Guard.

Spouses, widows and widowers of current or former ROA members under the "Spouse" category. Spouse members are full members of the association with the following two exceptions: They may not hold national office, and they do not receive The Officer in print form.
