Keynote Address General Peter W. Chiarelli Vice Chief of Staff, U.S. Army
Video presentation General Peter W. Chiarelli became the 32nd Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army on August 4th, 2008. In his previous assignment, he was the Senior Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense from March 2007 to August 2008. He hails from Seattle, Washington and is a Distinguished Military Graduate of Seattle University. General Chiarelli was commissioned a second lieutenant of Armor in September 1972. He has commanded at every level from platoon to corps. |

ROA Minuteman Hall of Fame Inductee Honoree: Rear Admiral Daniel R. May Commander, Personnel Service Center, USCG
Presentation Video Rear Admiral May was assigned as Commander of the Personnel Service Center in May of 2010. In this capacity, he oversees execution of all military personnel actions and services to support an active duty and reserve force of nearly 50,000 members from recruiting to retirement including the Coast Guard Exchange System. He is a member of the Coast Guard Academy Board of Trustees and previously served as the Assisstant Superintendent of the Academy from June of 2006 to January of 2008 where he was selected for flag rank. He is the former Director of Reserve and Leadership, United States Coast Guard.

“The Tipping Point of an All Volunteer Force" Speaker: Honorable James R. Locher III CEO of the Project for National Security Reform
Presentation Video James R. Locher III has more than 25 years of professional experience in both the executive and legislative branches of the federal government. Appointed by President George H. W. Bush in 1989, he served as assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict throughout the Bush administration and the first five months of the Clinton administration. Upon leaving government service in June 1993, he was awarded the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service. Since 1993, he has been consulting, lecturing, and writing.

Presentation Video James Woolsey served as director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency from 1993-1995. Currently, Woolsey is the Annenberg Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University; chairs the Strategic Advisory Group of the Washington, D.C. private equity fund, Paladin Capital Group and is of counsel to the Washington, D.C. office of the Boston-based law firm, Goodwin Procter. He specializes in a range of alternative energy and security issues. Woolsey serves on a range of government, corporate, and non-profit advisory boards including the National Commission on Energy Policy.

Presentation Video Colonel Ferdinand Irizarry II is the deputy commander of the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School based at Fort Bragg, N.C. He was commissioned from Johns Hopkins University as an Infantry officer in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. From August 2008 to August 2010, he served as the executive officer to the Under Secretary of the Army in Washington, D.C., and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Afghanistan. He was named the deputy commander of SWCS in August 2010. |

Lamont is the former Chair of University of Illinois Board of Trustees and a longtime Springfield attorney and resident partner for the Chicago firms of Gordon & Glickson and Altheimer & Gray, and the Springfield firm of Brown, Hay & Stephens. Mr. Lamont served in a variety of Judge Advocate positions in the Illinois Army National Guard for over 25 years. He culminated his career serving as the Illinois Staff Judge Advocate. He retired as a Colonel in 2007.

Admiral Debbink transitioned to the Reserve Component in 1983. Admiral Debbink became Chief of Navy Reserve on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington, on 22 July 2008.
