WHEREAS, current eligibility for educational benefits under the Montgomery GI Bill expires upon separation from the Selected Reserve;
WHEREAS, many Reservists have been unable to take advantage of these benefits due to job and family commitments, and the requirement to support more and more military deployments of long duration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Reserve Officers Association of the United States, chartered by Congress, urge the Congress to enact legislation to extend eligibility for educational benefits under the Montgomery GI Bill for ten years from date of retirement or discharge from the Reserve Forces.
