WHEREAS, contemporary American society affords few opportunities for youths to have firsthand contact or knowledge of the armed services through teachers, parents, or relatives; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that high school students throughout the United States enthusiastically participate in JROTC where programs are made available; and
WHEREAS, the armed services of the United States of America are experiencing shortfalls in meeting their recruiting goals; and
WHEREAS, a high percentage of former JROTC participants enlist in the armed services upon graduation from high school;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Reserve Officers Association, chartered by Congress, urge the Congress to fully fund the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps programs of the various branches of the armed services and expand such programs to include the addition of new, qualified schools to the program.
