MILITARY AND LEGISLATION POLICY UPDATES:
ROA Legislative Efforts See Progress in the form of 2009 Supplemental Bill (June 24, 2009)
ROA saw good progress this week in its advocacy mission to fully fund, reset and equip the Reserve Components. The 2009 Supplemental Appropriations for Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Pandemic Flu that was passed this week includes language for $500 million to fund National Guard and Reserve equipment.

GAO Releases Report on Military Pay
The Government Accountability Office released a report on "Military Personnel: Reserve Component Servicemembers on Average Earn More Income while Activated" June 23.

Defense Education Forum Holds Successful Event on Air Force Reserve Modernization
Maj Gen "Dallas" Thompson, deputy chief of the Air Force Reserve, briefed a room of 80 attendees including Congressional Staffers, reporters, industry partners, policy makers and members about the strategic plans to modernize the Air Force Reserve June 22. He was followed by two panels that discussed specific modernization issues including irregular warfare, Unmanned systems and precision and defensive systems. A report of the event will be distributed later.
