LEGISLATION AND MILITARY POLICY UPDATES:
Act Now To Support Early Retirement Amendment
Write to Congress to support an amendment being introduced by Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) to correct and backdate the eligibility date for retirement for those who have served since 9/11. ROA members, Reservists, and friends of the Guard and Reserve have had an impact on issues, and your grassroots support would be invaluable at this time.

The Defense Education Forum will host a "Forum on Energy and and National Security" June 25 at the Minuteman Memorial Building. The program will explore current energy policy and alternatives and relate it to national security issues. Featured on the program will be several Members of Congress, representatives of public policy groups, representatives of various energy trade associations, and a perspective from the services. The luncheon speaker is former national security advisor Bud McFarlane. The program is especially timely given the sweeping energy proposals now pending before Congress.

Proposed ROA Constitutional Amendment Online Forum
There will be an Amendment proposed at the National Convention in Orlando, Fla., to change the ROA constitution and bylaws to allow ROA’s active members to vote directly for national officers. The amendment is in response to surveys where serving members state they can’t participate because of time conflicts with family, civilian career, and demand from an operational Reserve. Visit the following link to participate in an online discussion about this topic.

Employer-Employee Relations: A National Security Issue by LtGen Dennis M. McCarthy, USMC (Ret.)
Chief of the Army Reserve LTG Jack Stultz, an ROA Life Member, has started a remarkable program involving ongoing partnerships with employers around the country. Essentially, the program involves identifying and matching Army skills with employer needs. Employers get the benefit of high-quality pre-trained employees, but accept those employees with the understanding that, as Citizen Warriors, the Army will likely need them one year out of five.
