Obama Administration 'Mindful' of Reservists While Calling for 21,000 More to Afghanistan

The Obama administration pledged March 27 to be mindful of the strains it places on the nation's military Reservists and their families as the United States increases its force strength in Afghanistan. The promise came after President Barack Obama announced he would be sending 4,000 more military members to train Afghan security forces, in addition to the 17,000 he ordered to Afghanistan in February.

NATIONAL CONVENTION UPDATE:

Fla., for the Final ROA Summer Convention as We Honor the HEROES AMONG US—Our Nation’s Citizen Warriors
 
In what is scheduled to be the last large-scale summer annual meeting for the Association—and a new national meeting format in which the convention will move to Mid-Winter and the National Council meeting will move to the summer beginning in 2010—ROA will hold elections and conduct other Association business, along with a slate of national security briefings, armed services and policy updates, and education programs, including the Joint Officer Leadership Training Seminar.

Top Of The Hill - On-Site Online Video Interview with NASCAR Points Leader Jeff Gordon
NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon made a personal appearance in association with Top Of The Hill client DuPont Company, and was interviewed by The Washington Post in the ROA Executive Suite offices, which served as an informal "green room" for media interviews. The Congressional and media event -- entitled "Investing in Industry, Investing in Jobs" Technology Exposition and News Conference -- also garnered the participation of several U.S. Senators and Members of Congress and their staffs.

Join ROA at the Army 10-Miler
The ROA family is looking for runners and walkers for the 25th annual Army 10-Miler in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 4, 2009. Registration opens today (April 1). The scenic run weaves around the nation’s capital, featuring historical monuments and cheering fans throughout the run. This year ROA will be hosting four teams. ROA members, friends, and family are invited to join teams in a challenging morning of 10 miles running or walking. Register soon: space is filling up at a record pace.

MILITARY HISTORY:

April 3, 1948: President Truman signs the Marshall Plan (from its enactment, officially the European Recovery Program, ERP), the primary plan of the United States for rebuilding and creating a stronger foundation for the countries of Western Europe, and repelling communism after World War II. The initiative was named for Secretary of State George Marshall.
