Feb. 6, Economic Stimulus and Military Construction for the National Guard and Reserves-MILCON Forum The Defense Education Forum and the National Guard Educational Foundation will host an "Economic Stimulus and Military Construction forum for the National Guard and Reserves," featuring legislative panelist as well as active and reserve component leaders who will discuss their MILCON needs.

LEGISLATION AND MILITARY POLICY UPDATE: Military Projects are Part of Stimulus Plan Last week, ROA Legislation and Military Policy reported the stimulus proposal, released Jan. 15, could exceed $160 billion, and Reserve base construction projects are among the list. Air Force Times reports $12.5 billion in military and veterans construction programs.

ROA NEWS: ROA Proactively Sets 2009 Legislative Agenda Advocating Changes to USERRA Laws Military Times interviewed Lt. Gen. Dennis McCarthy, ROA Executive Director, for its Feb. 2 issue on the seven issues ROA will address the Congress this year, including changes in the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and the Servicemembers’ Civil Relief Act. The article appeared in the Army and Navy Times.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities Accepting Applications The 'Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities' (EBV) are accepting applications for admission. EBV, first introduced by the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University in 2007, offers cutting edge, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines disabled as a result of their service supporting operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
