The Defense Education Forum (DEF) of the Reserve Officers Association invites you to attend the following event:
Dr. Saralyn Mark: Health Policy for Returning Veterans
Dr. Saralyn Mark, MD, an endocrinologist, geriatrician and women's health specialist, was the first Senior Medical Advisor to the Office on Women's Health within the Department of Health and Human Services for 11 years and to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). As Senior Medical Advisor, Mark was responsible for the development and analysis of initiatives and programs on emerging technologies, public health preparedness, physician workforce issues, sex and gender-based medicine and women's health on Earth and in space.
Mark's book, Stellar Medicine: A Journey Through the Universe of Women's Health, is part memoir/part guidebook on controversial health issues. In it Mark explores the political and social environments that shape these issues. Her latest work includes an examination of the invisible injuries of war, providing a focus on service members, their support systems and the unique health challenges they face coming home from war. Service members, civilians and policy makers alike will gain tremendous insight on current medical subjects influencing policy and programs.
On July 15, the Reserve Officers Association and the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation will host Dr. Mark for a discussion and signing of her latest work.
