Civil Affairs Roundtable:
Security Cooperation
Security cooperation activities
are primarily undertaken by the Departments of Defense and State in order to
strengthen partnerships with other nations to further the national security
goals of the United States. They are, in
the main, implemented at the country level in accordance with various Combatant
Command and Country Team strategic
documents. At any given time there are
hundreds of activities being conducted across the entire globe. What benefit do they bring? Are the most
effective activities being given priorities?
Since the Joint Civil Affairs community is heavily engaged in Security
Cooperation, this Roundtable will look at the policy, concepts, management and experience of these activities. On October 11, 2012, the Reserve Officers Association and the Peace Operations Policy Program of George Mason University will convene a panel of experts to discuss this timely issue.
