FY-2012 NDAA Moves to White House
Congress passed the $662 billion NDAA last Thursday after months of bipartisan work. The House passed the legislation late Wednesday (December 14), on a vote of 283 to 136. The Senate passed the measure 86 to 13, sending the bill to President Obama for his signature. The White House had initially threatened to veto the legislation, however that threat has since dropped. The bill funds an active duty end strength of 1,422,600 and Reserve Component end strength of 847,100. It fully funds a 1.6 percent authorized pay raise for military personnel. The Defense legislation also adds $1 billion to the National Guard and Reserve Equipment Account.
