ROA Meets with House Members to Discuss Veterans Issues
ROA met with Leader Nancy Pelosi and House members of the Democratic Party on Wednesday, Nov. 2nd to discuss the following veteran issues:

Increasing unemployment problems faced by returning National Guard and Reserve members
How Guard and Reserve members are not being considered veterans, because of active duty periods that are less than 179 in duration
The transitional challenges of Guard and Reserve members who return to geographic areas that are not near military health networks.

In an earlier note from Leader Pelosi, she stressed that “It is important for us to hear directly from organizations like yours that deal directly with the perils of veterans’ unemployment and mental health issues.”

ROA a Catalyst in Letter to TSA on USERRA
Last week, Congressmen Tim Walz and Bill Owens submitted a letter to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) addressing the fact that TSA screeners are not provided USERRA rights. ROA has been working with Rep. Walz's office on a number of USERRA provisions.
