On Monday, President Obama presented his newest plan for reducing the deficit. Defense officials continue to warn against cuts to the DoD budget. (Read the President's Plan for Economic Growth and Deficit Reduction)
 Part of the President's new plan suggested several changes to military retirement benefits, such as adjusting TRICARE pharmacy co-payments. (Read ROA's reaction to the changes) ROA will work to sustain the current benefits as outlined in National Resolution 10-29.

ROA Participates in Three Events On Veteran Employment Issues
The high unemployment rate among veterans is a serious issue facing returning service members. Congress and the White House are seeking ways to address the problem. Last week ROA was invited to attend in three different events on this issue.

HASC Subcommittee Holds Hearing on Readiness
This afternoon, chiefs from the Army Reserve, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard testified on readiness, training, and operations.

DADT Repeal Goes Into Effect
Yesterday, the repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy went into effect. The transition has been a quiet one - a 2011 poll done by the MilitaryTimes shows 57% said the change will not affect them.
