Advocacy:
ROA Testifies at Two HVAC Hearings
ROA executive director MG David Bockel gave oral testimony before the House Veterans' Affairs Committee (HVAC) Economic Opportunity subcommittee, and ROA submitted written testimony to the HVAC Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs subcommittee. Both testimonies dealt with specific bills being considered by HVAC and can be reviewed at www.roa.org/testimony.

ROA Meets with Freshman Congressmen
ROA executive director MG David Bockel and legislative director CAPT Marshall Hanson had meet-and-greets with freshman Reps. Steve Womack (R-Ark.) and Phil Roe (R-Tenn.).
   
Law Center:
SMLC Testifies on SCRA and Foreclosure
At the special Senate-House forum, Service Members' Law Center director CAPT Sam Wright explained the origin, purpose and scope of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), as well as SCRA in the mortgage foreclosure context. The forum was convened to examine illegal foreclosures against U.S. service members and their families.

Sgt. 1st Class Leroy Petry was awarded the Medal of Honor Tuesday for displaying "immeasurable courage and unfailing commitment to the mission and his fellow Rangers despite great personal sacrifice" in an Afghanistan firefight in 2008. Army Reserve Forces Policy Board Addresses Key Issues
At its recent meeting, the Army Forces Policy Board (ARFPC) selected MG Richard Stone, Deputy Surgeon General (Army Reserve) as its new Chairman. The Board is a powerful advocate for unit readiness, troop welfare, issues important to civilian employers and geographically dispersed families.
