HISTORY:

May 3, 1952 - A ski-modified C-47 piloted by Lt. Col. Joseph O. Fletcher and Lt. Col. William P. Benedict became the first aircraft to land on the North Pole. A moment later, Fletcher climbed out of the plane and walked to the exact geographic North Pole, probably the first person in history to do so.

Chair of the Reserve Forces Policy Board MG Rita Broadway speaks at the Army Reserve Forces Policy Committee (ARFPC) reception and educational forum co-hosted by ROA, AUSA and NGAUS in late April. The ARFPC, contained in the Office of the Secretary of the Army, reviews and comments on major policy matters directly affecting the reserve components and the mobilization preparedness of the Army. The meeting allowed ROA to pay tribute to the hard work of committee members and focused on associations' involvement in shaping key policy.
