USPHS Announcement
The Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act (PPACA), enacted on March 2010, abolished the Inactive Reserve Corps (IRC) and established the USPHS Ready Reserve Corps (RR) as the new surge capacity for the Commissioned Corps. All Reserve Corps officers who were serving on extended active duty on March 23, 2010 were converted to Regular Corps officers.
