ROA Meets with Rep. Wilson's Office on Early Retirement

ROA met with the staff of Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) to provide an update on pending early retirement plans in the Senate for an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Bill. Rep. Wilson got the Congressional Budget Office to reduce its estimate of cost to correct current legislation, changing the eligibility date from 1/28/2008 to 9/11/2001, but the House couldn't find an offset for even this lower number. The Senate is exploring different options to spread out the cost while still keeping the span of eligibility starting in 2001.
