Did You Know? ROA led the charge to retain a threatened NOAA Corps, Coast Guard and Air Force Reserve and saved the Navy Reserve's air arm.

LEGISLATION AND MILITARY POLICY:
ROA meets with new USCG Director of Reserve and Training
ROA met with the soon-to-be US Coast Guard Director of Reserve and Leadership, Rear Admiral Sandra Stosz, last Tuesday. Changes in the Coast Guard Reserve and its missions were discussed along with how ROA could support the USCGR.

ROA Attends HAS Subcommittee Meeting
ROA attended the House Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee hearing on the Reserve Components April 15. Assistant Secretary for Reserve Affairs Dennis McCarthy along with the Reserve chiefs and National Guard directors testified.

Veteran Reemployment Addressed by ROA
For the fourth time this year, ROA was invited to testify before House Veterans Affairs, this time before the subcommittee on economic opportunity.

Veterans Employment Act of 2010 Introduced
ROA's legislative department attended a press conference held by Sen. Patty Murray April 20 about her new bill, the Veterans Employment Act of 2010. The legislation establishes a Veteran Business Center Program, expands the Post-9/11 GI Bill to include apprenticeship and worker training programs, creates pilot programs to help transitioning service members as well as other initiatives.

Senators Urge Phased-In Approach to VA Medicare Reimbursement Rate Proposal
Member of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs urged the Department of Veterans Affairs in a letter to carefully study potential consequences of its proposal to adopt Medicare physician payment rates and other outpatient facility payment rates for non-VA contracted care, a proposal that would reduce payment to those providers.
