ROA staff recently met with Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) and staffers of Rep. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) to discuss issues including veteran status, early retirement, and the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

HISTORY:
March 9, 1864 - On this day, President Abraham Lincoln officially commissioned Ulysses S. Grant the first lieutenant general in the U.S. Army since George Washington. After leading Union victories in the West in 1862-63, Lincoln gave Grant supreme command of the Union forces with the revived rank.
