Chapter 18 Membership Meeting Saturday, March 27, 2010
Due to National Crisis (Haiti Earthquake), Our January Speaker has been rescheduled to March. Major General Frank J. Padilla Commander, 10th Air Force Naval Air Station JRB Fort Worth His command includes all fighter, bomber, special operations, rescue, airborne warning and control, flying training, combat air operations battle staff, unoccupied aerial vehicles and space units in the Air Force Reserve Command. These units are gained by the Air Combat Command, Air Force Special Operations Command, Pacific Air Force, Air Force Space Command, and the Air Education and Training Command. He has earned BA and MA civilian degrees and Air War College and numerous other Civilian and Military advanced degrees. As a Command pilot he is qualified in numerous aircraft with over 7,500 military and 8,500 civilian flying hours. His numerous awards include Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal and numerous others. His program, “Building Air Power in Iraq and Afghanistan” will describe his personal experiences there. Time: Hospitality 6:00 PM with cash bar available in the lobby bar. Dinner is at 7:00 pm in the Willow Room on the 1st floor. Menu: Country Style Salad w/Ranch Croutons, Smoked Brisket w/BBQ Sauce, Cheddar Cheese Whipped Potatoes, Corn & Broccoli Medley, Fresh Rolls & Butter, Fresh Brewed Coffee and Iced Tea & Pecan Pie. Dress: Duty Uniform suggested, or coat and tie. FUTURE EVENTS FOR 2010 The Dallas Chapter is changing the Chapter year to be consistent with National and Department of Texas. Items of Interest Military Records - DD214 now available on line. The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the following web site for veterans to gain access to their DD-214 on line. HTTP://vetrecs.archives.gov/ This may be helpful when a veteran needs a copy of his DD-214 for employment, etc. Military veterans and next of kin of deceased former military members may now use a new online military personnel records system to request documents. Other individuals with a need for document must still complete Standard Form 180 which can be downloaded from the web site. Those in Reserve or NG status/units and those retired members, not yet 60 but have a DOD Letter saying they will receive retired pay at age 60, may travel Space A alone (not with spouse/dependents) in CONUS, HI, Guam, and Alaska, but not Overseas (i.e. Europe & Asia, etc.). Once you have the Retired ID Card you can travel Space A with your spouse/dependents almost anywhere Military aircraft fly (except Turkey and Diego Garcia, etc.). Flights to Andrews AFB (Washington, DC) from Jackson ANG Base, MS, call (601)405-8761 for frequent schedules to and from Andrews, Charleston, Dover AFB’s and Ramstein, Germany.
