Reserve Component Challenges and Opportunities
February 6, 2013

The Reserve Components of the military have made key contributions to our national security over the past quarter century and their role continues to evolve. Major studies such as that made by the Commission on the National Guard and Reserves (CNGR) in 2008; the Comprehensive Review on Utilization of the Future Role of the Reserve Component in 2011 and the recent Cost Elements report of the Reserve Forces Policy Board (RFPB) have laid out many specific issues, missions and recommendations to prepare and utilize the Reserve Components of the future. In addition, the Army just released its new Total Force Policy which also has substantial impact on the Army Reserve components. This event will review the above initiatives, take into consideration the current fiscal environment and look into the future as to opportunities that may be created.
