Grassroots Advocacy:

Our government works on the needs of the country through Congress.  Once your Representatives and Senators are elected that should not be the last interaction you have with the process of governance.  The U.S. Capitol Visitor Center website explains why Congress is elected, “Through legislative debate and compromise, the U.S. Congress makes laws that influence our daily lives. It holds hearings to inform the legislative process, conducts investigations to oversee the executive branch, and serves as the voice of the people and the states in the federal government.”  The most important part of this description is that Congress “… serves as the voice of the people…” and your membership with ROA is one of the ways you can lend your voice to Congress.

Since its founding in 1922, ROA has tirelessly advocated for Reserve and National Guard members and their families. ROA has a long list of accomplishments, fulfilling its Congressional charter to promote the development and execution of a military policy that will provide adequate national security.  Since 9/11, ROA has advocated to remove barriers for Guard and Reserve members so they could increase their operational support to the nation without detriment to these courageous service members and their families or the supportive businesses and employers of the Reserve Component
