2.0 Paid Leave For Government Employees Who Are Reserve Component Members. Under 5 U.S.C. 6323, Federal civilian employees who are members of the National Guard or Reserve receive 120 hours per fiscal year of paid military leave. Back to Top 3.0 Reserve Retirement And Civilian Employment. Section 12736 of title 10 (10 U.S.C. 12736) provides that it is unlawful to deny you civilian employment retirement credit for a period of military service on the grounds that you are receiving Reserve (age 60) retirement credit for the same period of service. This section and its implications are discussed in the following articles.

On 19 December 2003, President Bush signed the Servicemembers’ Civil Relief Act (SCRA), a comprehensive rewrite of the SSCRA.
