Faces of Service

CONVENTION WRAP-UP
June 25-28, 2008 | Atlanta, Georgia

Themed “THE FACES OF SERVICE,” ROA’s 2008 convention honored all of the men and women serving or who have served in the Reserve Component, their families, employers, and others in their communities who support and serve friends. Those whose constancy, commitment and professionalism make our country’s Reserve Components the best in the world.

Over the next few days we'll wrap up ROA's 2008 convention activities on this page. Speeches. presentations, photos, resolutions, award winners, and newly elected national  officers will be posted here as the information becomes available.

President Pattillo's Message to ROA Membership

Col Pattillo, ROA PresidentI am excited to have the opportunity to lead the Reserve Officers Association as your new National President. At the National Convention, in Atlanta, I declared this to be “the year of the Citizen Warrior.” Since 2001, over 650,000 members of the Reserve and National Guard have been mobilized to serve on active duty, playing an indispensable role in the Global War on Terror. This year, we will officially honor their selfless service to the nation.
Having served under Col Paul Groskreutz as your president-elect last year, I want to thank him for the leadership he provided ROA.  Because I am already well-informed having been in that unique position, I look forward to hitting the ground running.
Having strong reserve forces, well-trained and adequately resourced, ready to serve the nation in time of war was the guiding ideal of our founders. Since its birth, ROA has steadfastly held to its fundamental purpose “to support a military policy for the United States that will provide adequate national security.”  Along the way, our tactics, techniques, and procedures may change to meet the changing environment, but we have and will always remain true to our purpose.
President Pattillo
